Hia everyone!!
I just have a few questions about chicken eggs, if you can help :bun
Also, can you please explain these in a non scientific way, so I can understand it, haha
So, what does it mean if your backyard chicken lays:
1. Wrinkled eggs
It is common for me that my chicken lays eggs that look like they have veins or wrinkles. I was wondering what the cause of this is, how I can help and if it is edible.

2. Fart eggs/Small eggs/Mini eggs/Oops
Sometimes, my chickens lay EXTREMELY small eggs.I was wondering what the cause of this is, how I can help and if it is edible.

Thank you!!
:thumbsup

I have been/seen that website, but I just need a further breakdown on the information stated in it, as it doesn't explain most of the points I need to know :) Thanks anyway
Welcome to BYC!
What specific points do you need to know, while staying "non scientific"?
Oh, and your pics are not showing...so I can't really help until I see them.

This should work. Can you see them?
By non-scientific, I mean can you please explain it simply without using a fancy word for fart and egg (etc)? All I need is the causes, the reasons and the solutions for the eggs. Thank you!!!

It might help to know what kind of chickens.. ie bantams or standard size layers and ages.
That can determine egg size.
Also, what feed are they on and any supplements you give. Do you feed oyster shell and grit?

The wrinkles..No clue here.

The images are tricky, you can always edit your post to remove the extra images, but no worries.

Well, the fart-fairy-wind-rooster egg is usually created by a small piece of tissue breaking off from inside the reproductive tract or the release of a tiny immature ova(yolk), the chickens body forms an egg(whites, membranes, shell) around it...the small size is due to the absence of a fully formed yolk. This usually only happens once in a while, a glitch so to speak, and can happen to any aged bird.

The wrinkly or corrugated shell can be from many causes, which are listed on #13 in the link Ken gave, it can be hard to pinpoint which might be the cause of your wrinkled egg. I had a bird who laid those all one winter, she had had a mild respiratory illness and I decided that was the cause.

There are not always solid cause/effect/cures with chicken glitches.

Hope that helps, I don't know how to make it any simpler than that but would be happy to try and answer any other questions you have.
You might want to watch this excellent video it explains and shows how an egg is formed.
