That really is a shame @yickenscarf23
It sounds like you really have done everything you can to accommodate him and protect others.
You said you got him from a good breeder though, right? Have you contacted them to see if they have ever experienced this level of unwarranted aggression in any other dogs they've bred or sold? Sounds like the kind of thing you really DON'T want in your bloodlines.
That leads back to my main argument on this topic... irresponsible breeders. (Not passing judgment on you or your breeder, just getting ready to go off on a little tangent rant here...)

If you're not breeding for health and temperament over appearance, then you need to rethink WHY you're breeding dogs in the first place. Every other CL ad I see in the pets section is for pit puppies: "pure bred", "Razors Edge", blah blah blah. Purebred does not mean well bred!! I honestly can't understand why anyone would want to breed them at this point anyway... shelters are OVERFLOWING with them. My local shelter is currently 90% pits! (and that's the norm, not just here, but lots of places) If you want a pit, go to a shelter where they won't even put one up for adoption without behavioral testing. Is it a guarantee? Of course not, you still have to use common sense as with ANY animal, but its a heck of a lot better than supporting the thousands of backyard breeders out there that are churning out quick-money-puppies without regard to their future.
Bottom line, there are WAY too many being bred because sadly, there is quite a market for status symbol "bad" dogs. Even the most good natured are high-energy and have aggression in their breed history, so they need a responsible owner to train, exercise, and UNDERSTAND their needs and cues to mitigate mishaps.
Its certainly not just pits either. 100% AGREE about pugs and other breeds that are similarly being bred like crazy in spite of the fact that the genetic deformities that make them so popular get worse and worse with every generation.
Again, props to you @yickenscarf23 for responsible handing of an exceptionally aggressive dog... in your shoes, I'd sure as heck never want another either.

I agree 100%
People keep telling me 'it's not the dog, it's the owner". It's both, but mostly the dog.
You can't just expect a dog bred to kill to just turn off that switch. Not happening.

In my world, owning a Pit type dog is the same as owning a pet Tiger or Lion. Do it, fine. But be aware that you are housing a natural born killer.
I must also agree on this one.
Both of my parents had Pitbulls at one point or another in their lives and from what I have been told they are amazing dogs that will change your life forever - But yes, they are also killers. My dad's Pit killed squirrels, rabbits, and it would probably kill another dog if my dad ever left it to do so ( which he never did, he took great care of Cracker and always made sure that other dogs were safe from her.) My Mom's dog got in a fight with another pitbull ( accidentally ) and my mom got bit trying to stop it.
She still has a scar on her arm to this day.
it wasn't her dog's fault, but it was its instinct to bite, and there's nothing you can do about that. Cracker; my dad's dog would chew through entire wood doors to get to my dad - and my mom's dog only tolerated one other dog in her entire life. They are unique animals, and they need extra care and training, but even with extra training, it's good to remember that Pitts are instinctive killers.
As someone said before, it's like a game of Russian Roulette. In my opinion, my parents got lucky that they got semi well-behaved loyal pits - but that still doesn't take away from the stress of caring for them. It's hard work to house a killer, and you definitely have to be more vigilant. Much like housing a tiger or a lion 😉
🤎
I don't dislike Pitts, but I think if someone is to get a pitbull they should be certain that they are in the right place in their life to own one.
Thanks for reading, sorry for clogging up the thread with my random thoughts on pitts🤣

I am not really a dog person, by most means. But there a few breeds that steal my heart such as Huskies.

But there are also other breeds that I can't even stand to look at. For personal reasons. My biggest reason for disliking most breeds is the inability to reproduce naturally, although not ever breed I don't like fits that description.

What breed(s) do you not like?

I don't like
  1. Shiba Inu, Akita
  2. Pug
  3. Boston Terrier
  4. Corgi
  5. English Bulldog
  6. Chihuahua
  7. Pomeranian
Also not a super fan of Labs and Golden Retrievers.

I hate any types of big dogs and pitbulls and bulldogs are ugly same with pugs.
