Well, as I read the original post, it also said things about not having cultural clubs. I have always enjoyed going to clubs that taught me about others. To ban or limit these interactions would limit a lot of beneficial experiences of all.
Productive adults also need to have tolerance for others, therefore there is a need to have interactions and studies of other cultures and traditions.

this i agree with too. student led school clubs is a good way for kids to have safe after school activities that don't require a huge amount of money to invest in such as sports and other activities.

to say students can not have after school clubs based on their common interests/cultures/religions, is basically saying that under no way are you allowed tor each out to other groups and try and learn about each other.

student ran clubs are not usually funded by the clubs and are instead just groups of kids allowed to meet on school property to ensure a safe place for them to meet.

what is wrong with that? It is only wrong if it involves mention of their culture or group apparently.

I was being facetious my point was that what indigenous tribe has not been conquered and removed from invading cultures and people it is a normal part of history tragic? yes it is still occurring today in the world. Changing a culture is normal and it usually benefits in some ways one way is lifespan as I am sure that the guys that got painted blue in Mel Gibson's movie Apocalypto would be happy to see that culture go away.

Another good reason to educate young people of other cultures. To answer your question, unless the 1800's is considered recent, this is not a current event.

I have never met a cultural club that said that. just because they talk about and teach about a culture doesn't mean they are closed to people outside their culture.

in my school we had a Christian club that non Christians attended. why? because they loved the community and music. No one cared. In fact the Christians loved being able to share their beliefs and have a good discussion with others.

most cultural clubs love having interest from other people outside their culture. it is a great way to build bridges

High School clubs have other ways of making one unwelcomed than telling you to leave.

These clubs should be guided by an adult. It should educate and support student members while stressing the importance of respecting and cooperating with others who are different than they are.

i agree adult supervisions i important, but what i mean is there is no reason for a school to feel put out by student based clubs as long as they aren't hurting anyone

Yeah, I couldn't join the Biology club in high school because I was a stoner and not welcome....I have a advanced degrees in Invertebrate Biology now. High School can be tough even if you are trying to learn the basics.
I do not think they should cut out things just because kids can be cruel sometimes.

I must be really out of touch with the times. A million years ago in the schools I attended all clubs were open to all students. I would think it is the same way now with all the equal opportunity and race relations laws.
