what gender does this 5 month old barred rock mix look

So if the cross was Bantam Brahama rooster x Barred Rock hen? If so it would have to be a cockerel. Right?
Good catch.
You're right it would be a black sex link.
I'm thinking that cross wouldn't produce a single comb chick either.
That sure looks like a pullet to me though.

Here is the father to it..a very leggy bantam dark brahma and a standard size barred rock mom. Only 50% BR, but it looks more like the mom. The dad to this mix was not fully matured, in this photo and i got rid of him. Was quite a bully!LOL

I am leaning towards 50/50, due to it being a mix. it is alot harder. The dad had a pea comb and the mother has a single comb, that flops over to side like Elvis..

Lol.. I guess that's why its throwing me, off from what i have observed both genders of full barred rocks are usually super awkward until they grow out of their adolescent teenage stage until atleast 8-9 months (both genders.) but this things got a banty brahma dad.

i thought boots (the name of the dad to this chicken,) was a she until it crowed i was like.. "Noo!" but this particular chicken cracks me up with barred foot feathers i crossed my bantam brahma to a EE hen whilw i had him..and they both favor the mothers more.j was aiming to get a female that resembled the banty brahma dad but anywho its interesting how weak the dark brahmas genes were with my br and my EE hen..lolol
