What happened?!

Hello all. It has been way too long.
I found my hen today with some swelling along her wattles, her right side.
No pain that I can tell, norm attitude a.d eating. Big scab....removed and FOUL smelling blood came out. Rinsed not blessing currently, still swollen.
Can anyone help me with what else I should do for her?

I wondered if that what it was. Is there a way to tell if that's open to crop? I couldn't see with a flashlight

Looks to me like its just in the wattle.
But if it's a bite, the opposite teeth would have clinched somewhere. Any other wounds?

Or could it be could be another chicken peck, or rooster mating?

No other wounds. Would b another hen, they r mean to each other.
It was just so stinky and the hole was deep. Can wattles swell that large?

Maybe if another hen got ahold of it and pulled? I'm not really sure.

Could definitely be an infected wound. Wattles tend to swell like that when they get damaged, I've found - I had a buff orp rooster that got frostbite on his wattles and they swelled right up.

So, she probably either caught it on something and tore it, or another hen may well have done that to her, and it became infected and swelled up.

I would clean the wound and flush it with saline solution to get any more infection out, and then pack it with neosporin and see if it heals. Sometimes wattles don't heal well, and in that case you may need to dub her on that side to prevent it from becoming reinfected. Hopefully it'll heal right up on its own at that won't be necessary.
