what has been your greatest compliment?

I received this letter from a person I admired and respected greatly. I received it at a time I was most depressed in life, and the person will never know exactly how much this letter helped me at the time. I keep it filed safely away and hope to never lose it.

Never doubt, 1st of all, that you are extremely gifted verbally and dramatically. Something in your make-up, or perhaps a decision you have made, refuses to let you live or experience any moment in a merely ordinary, passive way. In your writing you engage life and emotion and thought and nail it across the page, across pages and pages. I have been happy for the chance to view the world through your unique perspective. You will make your mark in this world, and I look forward to that day.

The greatest compliment that I have ever received was "You are the smartest person I have ever met."
And this was from a computer IT guy who has owned his own business for the last 15 years!

I've had a couple... After about 6 hours on an airline flight with 3 small kids just about every other passenger complimented us on the behavior of our children on their way out of the plane.

The other was from my favorite former boss who said he would LOVE to have me back to work for him and that I was his most favorite employee.

I have 14 dogs that enjoy their lives as sled dogs, show dogs and obedience dogs (in addition to my wonderful "retirees"). Several people have told me that they would like to be reincarnated as one of my dogs!!! That was the best compliment I could ever receive!

I honestly get the "you have the most wonderful, polite, well behaved children I have ever seen" comments constantly...and this may sound bad, but I consider that to be EXPECTED. I just think it means I am doing what I supposed to do and what the heck are the rest of the parents doing?

I think what I consider my best...my husband who is such a picky eater and had a mother who couldn't cook and an ex wife who couldn't cook. One day he sat there eating dinner and said "Honey, I don't understand. I looked all over the kitchen and we had NO food and you just made a wonderful dinner. I don't get it?"

The heart doc who while doing an exam on my heart through a vien said, "That's the healthiest heart I've ever seen in a fat man".

I'm getting smaller and my heart is getting even healthier.

also... when I sold Bibles door to door for the Southwestern Co out of Nashville during college, we were told that when we entered a home we were to find something to compliment.

The company instructed us never to say something like, "Gee Mrs. Jones, fer a fat lady, you sure don't sweat much!"

on my childrens manners ...

"you're how old? you dont look it" or "you dont look old enough to have an 18 year old"
