What has my chicken laid (a mystery in two parts)

I walked into the coop and found a mystery egg in the nesting box (first picture) I know it came from our whiting true green. The next day, she laid a very small egg. When I cracked it, I found this (second pic- full disclosure, I was about to crack it into a pan but when I saw what was inside I panicked and put it on a dirty plate- ignore all the sweet chili sauce)

she has since laid normal eggs, just trying to figure out what happened.

When pullets start to lay their systems often aren't fully operational and it can take some time for all the moving parts to work in sync. They can lay some pretty strange ones to start with. As long as your birds seem healthy and happy I wouldn't worry too much. Hopefully everything will be working smoothly soon and you can get on with enjoying those eggs rather than having to post them on here. :lol:
