for the weaker two.

I feel like I have been through a wringer reading your thread from start to finish. I went as fast as I could through all the pages for what I was hoping a happy ending. I can only begin to imagine how you must have felt. Whew.....what an ordeal. So happy your new babies are with you now, they are just precious. Prayers for the chipmunk. Good job, Mom.

I too just read through all 10 pages as fast as a could, lol. Wow, what an ordeal you've been through!!! Hoping by now all 5 are doing well.

Any update?

I don't think the little chipmunk will make it. I read about them sleeping deeply but she looks different and I am guessing she is dying. The stronger ones seem to sleep sort of relaxed with their necks stretched out.
The little chipmunk always kept her head really close to the body and the only things stretched out now is her leg(s) while she's laying on her side. She cheeps loudly when another chick steps on her.

Birdie the other weak one seems to be doing well though and has joined the other three foraging around. I have them in my breakfast area and they make very pleasant kind of chit chat cheep noises versus the loud and monotone ones they made at the post office.

Question on pasty butt!
The EEs seem to have fluffier longer fuzz all over than the BR. When they poop the very tips of the butt fuzz have poo on them.
I was worried about pasty butt and since they are in the house with me I've been wiping the butts but I am wondering if I am just paranoid now.
Is a little poop okay? The BR doesn't seem to have it but she also has shorter fuzz on her butt.

I don't know if this helps at all (there are tons of people in the forums with so much experience and information) but McMurray told me that if a chick is really doing badly to put a drop of honey directly in their mouth. I'm guessing the carbs are meant to give them a boost. It probably can't hurt at this stage.

I still have my fingers crossed for your little chipmunk girl!

Here are the remaining four:

Birdie (still seems a little wobbly but eats and drinks):

This is pullet Bob, the BR - very busy and active hence blurry pic:

I'm sorry to hear you lost your little chipmunk. Not to be too philosophical but God has a reason and a time for all things. These things aren't always what we want, but there is some greater scheme for it all that we mortals don't fathom. Give your others all your love and adoration. My wife and I have lost many since we met; a parakeet, two Wyandottes, even a little finch we befriended. Each passing broke our hearts a little, but we treasured the time we had with them even today... And their passing makes us love what we have even more passionately.

John 14: 1 - 4

Jesus Comforts The Desciples

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
You know the way to the place where I am going."
