What have you repurposed while building ?

Pics
MR/MRS CHEAP ??? I certainly dont call these geniuses cheap. I would rather say thrifty, creative, imaginative reconstructive engineers!! These engineers see gold in those castoffs and are mining that gold. Sounds so much better!!!!:lau
Agreed Hopperkiller, that's kind of a local inside joke. There's a lady that writes articles about thrifty living for our newspaper here in Nashville and she goes by Mrs. Cheap, I certainly meant no offense or disdain toward anyone. And if I did I'd be the pot calling the kettle black mainly because I built almost my entire coop and many of the accessories that go with an eye toward the thrifty engineering side of things;)

Im trying to find a repurpose for my great grandads rusty old forge that my grandad welded a galvanized pipe to replace a broken leg. It may turn into a waterfall for my goldfish pond! May even get some ideas from this group of engineers!!!

Don't have pics of my chickens coop at the moment so I figure using old pallets and wood from previous goat shed as climbing structure the previous owners had a tree house they now live in(see back behind goat)and a cat hideaway for rescued squab will have to do XD

... goat shed ...

That term had me LOL-ing :lau...

I was in a design/engineering class years ago and the instructor was from Nigeria originally, and he would say things like:

"...when you design that big building like the sky scraper in New York, you must do it like this.... but if you are just building a goad-shee-ed nobody cares, you build that as you wish..."

I have no idea what others were thinking, but he'd say this term almost everyday as an example of things that do not need to be designed or built to codes or standards, along with other words that I had to sort of translate, so I assumed that this thing he kept saying was some sort of architectural term that I just had not heard of before.

It was probably 6 weeks in before some brave soul asked, "when you say 'goad-shee-ed', what are you meaning by that?"

And the instructor said, "No, no.... not 'goad-shee-ed,' I say 'goad-shee-ed'... that building where you raise all those baby goads and sheeps"...

And then collectively 30 people turned to each other and went: "Oooooh! Goat Shed!", and suddenly a lot of things from the previous 6 weeks made a lot more sense!

@OhZark Biddies omg! That's amazing XD!!!:lau

I haven't thought about that in years. I was just re-reading that after I posted and thinking, I doubt any of us in that room ever had a chance to design or build a sky-scraper, but I hope everyone got a chance to build a "goad-shee-ed"... ( or chicken coop!)
