Oh, btw....your place looks amazing!!! You need more ducks!!!

Oh sweet Jesus I want ducks but I’m just... it’s overwhelming at times just with these two. I constantly worry about their poop, about their water, am I feeding them enough, are they happy, are they healthy and on and on and on. That’s just with two!

{{side note: I also have other things going on with my Health where I’m exhausted all the time. Also STILL unpacking and have had to pert near replace my entire water system twice over during these last few subzerokissmybutt months on top of kiddo still having some behavioral issues and being Mom and wife in general. Sorry that turned into a non-duck moment but wanted to at least make it known I’m not a lazy sack of.... turds.

We seriously need a board on here for venting. I could use one lol}}

And I wanted ducks for companionship with the perk of eggs. Found out I’m not too keen on their eggs. So now it’s just companionship. Hubs has noted that with everything going on, the duck-mergencies have been an added stressor. I told him it’s probably been my only saving grace for sanity.

So now I’ve been waiting until 3/19 for Metzer Farms to have the ducklings I want and the more I see of these pretty ducks on here... the more and more I keep thinking “we’ll... maybe 1 more won’t hurt.”

And I realize that what someone said to me on my introduction post is true:

There’s a duck math involved. Want 1 duck? Pffft, can’t buy just one, you NEED two! But... what if one dies, then you’d be back at one, so it’d be best if you had THREE! But... three is an odd number... might as well round it to FOUR! Well hell, can’t just pick one breed for all, and don’t want them to be racially different from alllll of their peers, so you REALLY need FOUR PAIRS!

Duck math. :hit

You could be absolutely right that it isn’t a worm. I’m just... worried about more unwanted pet maladies and maybe I’m stupid hyper-vigilant.

Just got done writing what is absolutely an embarrassingly long post in the illness/emergency/cures section regarding the Pekin I had that passed. Wanted to see what others thought it could’ve been. But because it stretched 2-3 weeks with symptoms of seemingly every possible duck ailment, I had to include the details.

All of that is to say, I too will be hanging out waiting for the ducksperts lol.

Sortve positive that you don’t see one though. Maybe good sign :fl

Well it certainly doesn't look like a round worm to me. Possibly a tape worm segment maybe . . if the white part is what your referring to.

Yup, just the white part. The other white area appeared to be the typical urine-turdy mess of ducks... with water and mud

I really can’t pin down a normal poo for these girls. They fluctuate it seems. And my god, mealworms give them horrible poops. I read others mention the horrid tomato poops but I’ve not seen anything like a mealworm poop :sick

Doesn't look like a worm to me, I think it's probably just some of their, ah 'lubricant'... did you swirl it around with a stick? See if it just smeared or if it came out in one piece like a worm?

Just fyi, fecal floats to show worm eggs is best for telling wormloads... *if* they are showing worms actually in their poops, then they're usually severely overloaded... and only roundworms and tapes typically expel in poop, most do not, only their eggs...

And just another note, Meloxicam is not a narcotic painkiller, so no need to worry too much about having it... if she doesn't need it, then don't worry about it, save it for a rainy day, lol...

Admittedly, I did not prod at it. Don’t know why I didn’t think to... gonna blame it on being overly excited about an injury free romp in the pond with an equally disaster free return to their porch. That’s it... yeah...

I’ve never had any other signs of worms with any of their poops so I was just wanting to make sure it was something they ate or just an otherwise nasty chunk of poo.

I’m gonna give her the miloxicam tomorrow just because she got a lot of walking in today that she hasn’t had... and especially hasn’t had since she sprained it.

And of course, rapey mcraperton mounted her very shortly after they were out and having fun. Had her poor little head pushed down in the puddle and everything. My mom was there to save the day as I had, coincidentally, gone to get something to sit in so I could watch them to make sure she didn’t get hurt or... well... intimately solicited. So I’m gonna put a chastity contraption (with reinforced steel legs) on OG so that Patty doesn’t re-injure her. This is a lot of duck sitting (gah!)

No worries, not like you don't have enough on your plate already, eh? :D ;)

If it was a worm, you most likely would see another at some point...

And don't worry too much about their 'hop-on-top' antics, it's perfectly normal... head dunking happens... as long as she isn't trying to get away, and especially if she flattens out for it, then she's fine with it...
