What in the world is my chicken doing

I watched a Great Blue Heron do exactly the same thing after finishing off a fish - cleaned both sides carefully on the edge of the dock.

My girls love doing that after yogurt and after buttermilk treats... but the funniest is with the white wattles and beaks.... then the popular "shake" and getting it flying all over the other one. Hilarious.

I've seen all kinds of wild birds at my feeders do this to.

So the concensus is it's pretty much to clean off their beaks and possibly to sharpen them.
