How cool! Not sure what he is. Guessing American gamefowl/Leghorn cross. Can't see the comb too well but guessing it is a modified pea comb, meaning it is somewhere between a pea comb and a single comb.

It looks like an old fashioned bonnet, like Nellie on little house in the prarie always wore.
In south louisiana a game cross is highly possible.he is really lovely though. His movement is fluid and he just seems to be well caredfor or else really good self preservation skills

He's a very handsome looking rooster. Has to be at least part gamefowl with that muscular build, but the comb and white earlobes seem to indicate something else mixed in. You might try posting these pictures in the American gamefowl thread to see what they have to say. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/new-gamefowl-thread.1553779/

The comb looks like a modified pea comb, which would make sense for a game/game cross. Are you going to find him a new home so he isn’t eaten by predators?

I cant get any closer than i did..some of the trainers/grooms etc have hens. So..since there are 8 70 stall barns with feed rooms, tack rooms, hay rooms and people rooms ( 6 per barn) he may belong to someone..not sure ive asked around.. he wasnt starving..i have dry cat foodout all the timeto keep barn cats in our barn. I had some sweet feed he wouldnt come near for it..will keep trying as i like him..biggest predators here would be rats..large transient population of ducks and geese..a couple of very, very fat raccoons that generally prefer the trash barrelswith lots of food in them.. and barn cats..but i havent seen the barn catsgo after hens here before.. but i will keep checking and try to lure himinto trusting me

I got a little closer today
