I have this roo I bought and the old man said it was a Dom.I was told this evening that he was a black sexlink.But by pulling up pics of bth a dom and a black sexlink,he looks like neither.My g/f pulled up a pic of a barred rock and I think it looks just like one,but I'm no expert by a long shot.So I'm coming to yall for help on this.Whatever he is he is the best $5 I ever spent.We love him to death.

Could be a Cukoo Maran or a BR mix or black sex link.

A dominique would have a rose comb. Looks just like my buddy's barred rocks to me.

I'd say he's a barred rock mix. He's for sure not a Dominique, but most old timers call any bird with that color pattern a Dominique so I'm sure the guy just didn't realize his mistake. No matter what he is he looks like a keeper!

I don't think he is pure BR he doesn't seem to have the right stature or marking for one. Plus the BRs have more white than black between the bars and the flight feathers are also barred the same as the body not black. I think yours looks more like the black sex-link.

ETA: Correction, the males have more white between the bars...The females have more black than white.

I'm wanting to lean more into the BR mix myself.Just not enough gold coloring in the barring to be a black sexlink.I still would like to see more people's ideas.

Even though he doesn't have a whole lot of brown, he does have enough for the camera to pick it up so I am leaning towards a Black Sex-Link.

if he was a purebred cuckoo marans he would not have yellow legs.... I'm thinking Barred Rock mix.
