What is, in your opinion, the friendliest chicken breed?

Chicken are kind of like dogs. You have to train them. But they're way of training is spending quality time with them as chicks. I spend around 20 min a day with them and mine turned out friendly.

That's good to know!

I heard it helps to approach them from the side so they don't think you're a predator, so at first I'll use a small box with a high side opening, and then after a week or so I'll put them in a pet tent.

I'll probably end up with chickens running everywhere.😄

I approach the baby chicks anyway I like.

We attended our first "farmer's / fowl market" last Sunday, and it was SO exciting to see all the chickens there. :love If the coop would have been ready for the chickens to move in, we would have probably bought some.

A major poultry company brought various breeds, but these poor girls were literally stuffed into crates :hit6-7 grown chickens in small cages (cages about the same size as the one in the photo). It was awful!

This "expert" explained to us, that the ones he is selling were vaccinated and well taken care of, and that we should not buy the "cheap" little chickens from any private seller there. Made me wonder, however, just how healthy and nice his chicken will turn out to be (one RIR acted a bit aggressive and so a buyer refused to take it).

I also spotted these (sold by a private seller). After reading your post here, I'm longing to spend more quality time and time for training the little ones. There is something really special about "training a dog" and I suppose it is similar while training chickens.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts here.

I've only ever had four different breeds, but Buff Orpingtons are the sweetest I've had! They love hugs and cuddles. They run to me when I go out to see them along with my Speckled Sussex roo. 😆 (He loves his cuddles too💕)
I have a buff brahma named Sunshine, and she LOVES cuddles I also have a friendly speckled sussex that's cuddly
