What is LaRoo? Too many people driving by want him!

This is LaRoo, you've seen him in other posts but now I really would like to know what he might be. In the last 2 weeks I've had several people stop and try and buy him. He looks nothing like any of my others and I got the egg from a local fellow who isn't around anymore so I can go back and ask. He was hatched in my classroom last year from a bunch of eggs donated to us. He has an odd sounding crow but it gives it all he's got, his eyes seem much brighter and intense than the others too.

Silkie cross or silkie mix. He has the classic silkie body type but with normal feathers and a bit longer tail. Perhaps Silkie x Rosecomb due to earlobe being nicely white and showing a bit of roundness and Rosecomb also would contribute to the tail- both the size and position(he seems to carry tail slightly low).

I never would have though Silkie, he doesn't look anything like my Silkie roo, his feathers aren't like theirs at all. I'm going to have to go check his little tootsies and count toes!

Ok, first I have no idea and I usually suck at these guessing games... but I have lots of fun trying.

So, what about some White Faced Black Spanish in him? They have the white ear lobes and the black feathers; then add some Australorp for that green sheen. Finally how about some Brahma for those feathered feet?

I'm leaning towards silkie/rosecomb cross as well. The feathering on his head says silkie to me. I am pretty sure silkie feathers is recessive, so if you don't have 2 birds with the silkie feather gene, the babies won't have silkie feathers.

Well the young man has 5 toes,, he's also got a suicide wish. He has started courting Woo, Nuggets GF,, and Woo is accepting him. She asked to come out of the little ladies pen, went over to the empty pen that has a dog house in it and 2 foot high chicken wire around it. She made it very plain she wanted it so since we were out there working on the big pen we picked her up and put her in, she went in the dog house checked it out, so Steven put a waterer and feeder in with her. Next we saw Nugget at the wire staring in and LaRoo was in the doghouse building her a nest which she promptly sat in. Nugget is now sitting with Babette the duck who has a crush on him.

Rosecombs are such a gorgeous breed, and they do have that big white earlobe and very prominent rose comb (hence the name

). A Silkie x Rosecomb cross seems very plausible to me (he does have those 5 toes like a Silkie, too).

BE careful - perhaps they are all people who live nearby LaRoo and are thinking "If buy him, I can MAKE him stop that awful racket!" Then again, maybe they really do love his plumage. Good luck! He's a neat little bird.

LOL he may have a strange crow, but he doesn't do it very often. He made Woo a nice nest, she laid a nice egg, the booted him out. We got the fence mostly up on the bigger pen and she decided she wanted to sleep in the coop so I let her in the pen then I took her cute little egg,,,,,,
