What is semi-formal attire?

DH and DS both hate dressy clothes... it's jeans and T-shirts all the way for both. But we DO have slacks and decent button ups for when they're needed... funerals and weddings is pretty much it... course I have to dust them off, since they stay in the far back of the closet all the rest of the time...

Come to think of it that's about the only time I wear a skirt and anything other than a T-shirt myself... the only dress in my closet is the bridesmaid gown from my friend Angela's wedding... ohh... what was that eight years ago?? DD's a little better at this girlie crap that her tomboy mama... I think she owns three skirts/dresses.

Went to Kohl's today and picked up 2 dresses. One long and one shorter. I also got one of those little sweaters that just covers your shoulders mostly because both dresses did not have sleeves. I was really wanting to get a pair of those black leather knee high boots but evidently this isn't the season for them. I have a nice pair of strappy black high heels so I guess I will go with those. Only one problem. If I wear those shoes it will require that I get a pedicure!!! Darn the bad luck!!!!

I don't think opened toed shoes are considered semi formal but I"ll look it up.

I have to look it u. Even 'semi formal' is a tweeze far from our daily lives on the farm.

Thank you! I never even thought of Ross.

I tried a pair of closed toe shoes and they looked hideous with both dresses. Maybe they weren't dressy enough but I have been looking for a pair of black heels for months now to no avail!! I don't like the new style everyone is wearing nowadays. You know the shoes with the really pointy toes that look like witch shoes!! I call them cockroach killers! Guess I will keep looking. Really hoping to find the black boots though. I think they would look good with the shorter dress!

If the jeans are acceptable for the semi-formal event, open toed shoes are fine. But the pedicure is required, sorry.

The problem with semi-formal is exactly how semi and how formal are they wanting. Been to events that were tea length dresses for the women and the full suit and tie route for the men. Been to events that were clean jeans without holes and a polo shirt was fine.

They said that the black jeans with vest was okay so I think I will go with those shoes if they are still at the bottom of my closet!!! Thanks for backing me up on the pedicure!!!!!!!!!

I don't mind painting my toes when I can reach them myself. But I don't get the love of the whole pedicure deal 99.9% of the time. Every few years, I don't mind one.

One of my greatest friends is a nail tech so she does manis/pedis etc.... We trade out for working on her vehicle. My hubby does the work and I reap the benefits!!!! (I help him a lot of the time!) Think I will do this one myself though as she will be in Texas with her new grandbaby and I don't really want to go to someone I don't know!!!

I know why you can't reach your toes too!!! There's a cure for that!!!
