What is she?

I saw the prettiest little hen today and I can't figure out what she was. It's driving me crazy. I've gone through several breed indexes and am beginning to believe she was a cross.

She had a brown/black head, buff hackles, brown speckles on her chest and back leading into a brown butt... I may be delivering some more hens to this lady and I will try to get a picture, but for now... I have NO idea what she was other than fascinating.

yeah... Her entire body is a shade of brown, her chest and hackles are a lighter shade with darker speckles sort of... Again, I really don't have pictures she's not mine but I'm urious about her. She was a heavy weight bird, looked at least 6 lbs or better.
