What Is The Best Breed YOU Recommend?

I'd say Orpingtons or Australorps, or Sussex. If you'd like a little more egg production, ISA brown, I love my girls, they're not always easy though. And definitely don't expect any going broody

Orpington & australorp are calm friendly birds I would also recommend Delaware cause there friendly and lay lots of eggs (my Delaware layed into her ninth year)
Easter eggers are also great if you want some pretty eggs

Orpington. Right now my favorite breed my buff Orpington is my favorite bird so sweet and will sit on my feet so I can’t move until I hold her. Plenty of eggs definitely recommend.

My votes are Buff Orpingtons and Barred Rocks. We have a flock of Buff Orpingtons right now and they are so personable and plump. Barred Rocks are absolute sweetie pies and I just love them so much. They've both been great with providing consistent eggs and are just lovely to have around.

Two word: White Leghorns. My girls are great layers and they love hugs. As a plus, they're adorable.

Leghorns did me wrong. They were quite nasty! In fact, they murdered my cinnamon queen and the weakest Leghorn in the bunch. I wouldn't have Leghorns again. They are great layers. They pump out eggs.

Oh the best hens I have in all these departments are Welsummers, Bielefelders, and my personal goofy love favorites, Buff Orpingtons. Apparently im drawn to the brown ones lol!

I suggest Orpingtons. They lay a good amount of eggs, and frequently go broody, though I don't let my chickens hatch out eggs (especially because they're not fertile in the first place). In my experience, Orpingtons can tolerate both heat and cold well, and they have a neutral temperament -- not too friendly, but they do let you pick them up. Orpingtons are one of the most popular breeds, so they are easy to find and purchase.

If you do not want Orpingtons, then I suggest getting Cochins instead. Cochin hens are also very broody, and usually will hatch out eggs if given the chance. They can tolerate cold and heat, though heat not so much. The hens are nice, and even the roosters typically have friendly personalities. The only drawback I can see is that they have heavily feathered legs, which can get dirty if there is a lot of mud in their area.

Orpingtons, Ameraucanas and Spitzhaubens. I just go sit down and relax with them and I become a chicken tree. None of those have gone broody for me tho. It's my Phoenix that have and even tho I can't really pick em as they don't like that they still come over and scratch around my feet. My Phoenix are the first to run up to me as well. So far good mothers.
