I didn't offer to "judge" you at all, and nowhere did I mention jail. I did say that if you thought she belonged to this person you should return her, check it out for yourself if you think they were fighting birds, and turn THEM in. I don't seem to be the one who is quick to judge here. What I was saying about "doing the right thing" involves returning the birds to her rightful owner, not keeping her like you seemed to be considering, and letting the law deal with them if they were mistreating their birds.

On another note, how you now feel about me or anyone else, BYC is a forum of almost 80,000 people, are you really going to let the OPINIONS of two people affect your interactions with the other 79,998?? This is a PUBLIC forum FILLED with opinions you may or may not agree with...

I firmly but sadly believe " no good deed goes unpunished" and "guilty untill proven innocent". I didn't get that you had stolen the bird, I felt you had rescued it. It was hanging in front of Starbucks for a while, so it obviously knows where its food is, but not its home. It is sad that people jump to conclusions.

Please stick around. There are really alot of helpful threads and generally wonderful people here, but we are imperfect people and often read into comments things that are not there. You will have to overlook that and pick out the bits and pieces that are helpful.

I have a game fowl mix pullet, she is the sweetest girl ever, she runs to me for a good petting. She is also a very reliable egg layer for me of medium brown eggs. If the closest person who sells them is 50 miles away, if you found her on the street after a week of wondering, and no lost signs have been posted, I would keep her.

You are correct Cloverleaf you and Cathunter are just two of many. And you didn't make mention of jail I just summed up the two negative replies into one. I am NOT considering to keep her I have 1 cat, 4 dogs, 1 horse, 11 rabbits, 1 rat, 2 geckos, a snake and I'm a mother of two. My plate is full. I just could never turn my back on a animal or child in need. Just as most of you would'nt either. The world is full of evil peeps who disregard animals. I just try to make up for a few of them and that is why I rounded up 4 people to help me catch this girl living next to a 5 lane hwy. And why she is sitting in my house with tons of food because my heart hurt when I saw her starvation poops. I guess I reacted harshly and I apologize for that. It just sucks when you get knocked down for doing your best. That is so true Easttxchick Good deeds don't go unpunished! But I sure won't stop, as it sounds that you don't either. Thank you for being a saviour to the critters.

I'm sorry if you mistook my original reply as negative, it was not intended to be taken that way...I was just simply saying that if you thought she was theirs you should return her. I don't understand how that's a negative post..but often tone is mistaken when the words are just text?? I appreciate that you took her in, I really do, it would have been awful if she had died, whether by starvation, or getting hit on the road. Believe me, I spend WAY too much of my time seeing how people mistreat animals (I'm an ER vet tech)...it's nice when someone lends a hand to an otherwise helpless animal.

Maybe you could put up flyers to try to find her owner? It may not be the people that have the ad for the ones for sale, but she might belong to someone that doesn't know HOW to find her...or it might prompt someone to come forward and say they would give her a good home if you can't find her actual owner...I wouldn't post a pic though, I'd make them ID her.

Thank you Cloverleaf, very kind of you. I apologize I misuderstood your post. I will definitely be taking some of your advice trying to rehome her. I must go off to work but I will check back in the near future maybe somone on here will know of a good home if hers is not located. Have a wonderful day.

Pure bred American Games are highly valuable from top breeders, $600-$800 for a Trio (Cock and two hens). If she came from a farm selling roosters for $50 they are probably American or Old English. Most breeders know fighting is illegal and will advertise as such, almost always issuing a disclaimer that purchased birds are not to be used for illegal purposes. Due to the expensive nature of the birds themselves brood stocks are usually very well cared for, more so than a normal free range ornamental flock. The hens are very valuable in that they contribute to a large portion of the offsprings show qualities and temperment. To give you an example, I just payed $150 for a dozen American eggs from a very reputable breeder and that is on the low side, I have seen $250. I am not telling you what to do, but hopefully this information helps you make the right decision.

Hi there, I'm in King County, so not terribly far. If you're looking to rehome the bird, I bet she would be gone in a flash if listed on Craigslist. If she were a bit closer, I would probably pick her up myself. I love the game temperament and good mothering skills. There's a lost and found section on CL you could post her in too. Good luck!

It would have been nice if you whould have posted the facts Which you didnt But I still say you should have called animal control not takin it upon your self to take some one elses property That may have only been free rangeing Lots of people own poultry next to hyways and even in city limits.In my opinion even thou you thought you where doing the right thing You still took some one elses property.
