What is the most creative recycled item you used in building your coop

Don't know how creative this is but we used old plastic milk crate for nesting boxes and an antique garden gate to enter into the run:D

Oh, I forgot to mention that I built the coop INSIDE the shed, because it already had a doggie door. I figured it would be a great chicken door, and the dog run was all fenced in, just needed some modifications.

chickenlittle I would love to see the pallet coop...we can get pallets around here by the truck loads and I mean huge truck loads...but am stuck at how to make a coop....

I guess turning the old work bench/ potting table into a covered run was the most creative item I used in building my coop. I can still use it as a potting table. There is a list on my BYC page of all the different recycled stuff I used to build my coop.

It is not technically part of the coop, but I also like my feeder made from scavenged materials. It is a used 1 gal. vinegar jug attached to a frisbee bottom that hangs on chain that came from a hanging light fixture.

We lived on our property for a year now but still there is alot of trash left overs from the landlady's family (Landlady gave us a deal, we live here for free if we clean up her 42 acres of land. She is a VERY VERY close friend of family. Gave us free reins of the entire property, she lives in front while we live in back).

Just today I went over to the landlady's house to discuss a few things and I told her that Hubby doesn't want to spend too much on the hen house. She told me to look around the property, there is ALOT of stuff we can use to build a hen house, even her old metal shed plus she has left over hen boxes. We are gathering up everything today and so far as we know of, we don't need to buy ANYTHING but the fencing for the run!

We have woods that we got on craigslist (FREE!) to firm up the structor of the shed. She already has metal hen boxes from years ago. She has left over steel roofing to replace the warn out roof from when she had to fix her roof from a fire last Thanksgiving (her chemeny caught on fire the night before thankgiving). We also are clearing up the woods area and cleanign up the trees along the road and all that can be used for roosting posts. WOW! Talking about a SAVE!

10' satelite dish is the roof of my 'dome coop' covered in metal siding from our old above ground pool.

GardenNerd...the dog wants to know what happened to the "his house"...you gave it to the chickens!!
