$$$What is the most expensive chicken you have brought or sold?$$$

Most expensive purchase was 5 dollars a piece for chicks. But my BR roo had to take to the vet cost me 68.00 to find out he had a belly ache from eating a bug. He was a baby then. so he is my most expensive.

We paid $15 for a 7-month-old laying EE pullet and named her Lola. She's a good girl and lays pretty aqua eggs.

Our original flock was a joke. We paid $8 a bird, bought them from a family selling chickens out of their backyard. All but 2 of them have died from various health concerns, and the only one out of that whole flock that laid on time was the EE who laid at 30 weeks. Oh, and the leghorn started at 22 weeks, laid for 6 weeks, got eggbound, and died at 28 weeks of age. The RIR and welsummer got sick and were put down at 8 months of age and never did lay anything. The barred rock didn't lay her first egg until she was 35 weeks.

I don't mind paying more for healthier birds, and I have learned that lesson the hard way.

Of course, nowadays I'm hatching out my own so I REALLY know the health of the birds from day 1.

Now these sweater chickens, I wonder if I've got any and wonderin' if they'd want some more for that price?

Heck, I ain't greedy, they can have mine for half price.

Heck, just tell me what they look like and I'll make some. I got plenty of paint and stuff laying around. Sirbird can mail me some of those royal palm feathers to glue on the back end, George.. you got any purty purple feathers for the hackles? Imp can provide some feathers for the neck, he ain't usin' his. Gritty can hit 'em with the tazer to make all the feathers curl. Maple can make something for the feet... Anybody else got any parts to add?

Seriously though, what the heck's a sweater chicken? Inquiring minds wanna know?

I wanna see pictures!
