What is the purpose of backyard chickens?

If you notice, the forums that answer chicken related questions move SOOO quickly. In RR there are maybe 1 1/2 pages of posts per day. In Raising baby chickens there can be 10 or more, same with incubating and hatching, and chicken behavior. I know that I go there and pick up the ones with -0- answers.....

The purpose of BYC is to have a place online for people who raise chickens, mostly in small flocks, to share their thoughts, issues, grief, joy, and solutions on all matters chicken.

It includes a "Social" section for chicken-lovers to share all kinds of thoughts about things that aren't chicken-related. Many of us have similar interest, which is why there is such a diversity of threads on crocheting, silly youtube videos, cysts, prayer-requests, etc.

There are entire sections of BYC that I don't read at all, such as the entire breeds area, hatching info, goats, B/S/T, etc. BYC has gotten so big that I tend to read just the threads with interesting titles and those with 0-1 responses. What doesn't interest me, like crocheting, I simply don't read.

I hope you'll enjoy the many chicken-related things that BYC & its members have to offer.

I do agree with most of you and I do use the search function and like I said in the original post I have gotten a lot of great information on here. But when you post a question that you cant find in the search function and you know that there is almost 30,000 members on here and you get 1 answer it just seems that someone would have something different to say since most people have tried different things and everyone has had different experiences

Sometimes the title of a thread makes it difficult for people to know what information you need. I don't usually click on threads with titles such as "emergency!" or "help! my chick" because they're not specific enough.

By the way, what thread/question did you need help with?

Thats weird, I have always gotten good answers to my chicken questions and issues. Has made my chicken learning a pleasant experiance.

Nice place to gab too, heck, I've even had a couple good arguements here. Wonderful place.

Yeah, I get burned out by replying the same questions over and over. However we will TRY to get everyone's questions answered.

Sometimes I find old threads with the information I need and "revive" them so I can get even more info.

Well maybe it's because there are so many people new to chickens on here (like me) and they really don't know anything about chickens and can't answer anything about them so they just play games all day (like me) lol

I've had some questions that I had that went nowhere and some that have taken a life of their own. lol If you are familiar with some of the people on here who seem to know quite a bit- pm them with a link to your thread , if you are not getting the answers you need. You never know when people are on the computer or off and sometimes they just miss your question. Don't give up- If at first you don't succeed------- lol you know the rest-

I never have been able to get a good answer to a question without someone assuming that either you are completely an idiot or you have no idea that you can use search. I know a lot pf people here have asked the same question over and over, but with over 25,000 members you would think someone could lend a helping hand by answering someone instead of passing them off and telling them to search for it. I agree, too much random rambling going on I guess. Sorry to rant.
