My biggest roo eats lizards, dead birds, frogs, mice, and anything else he can get hold of. He's especially fond of satsumas. One of my other roos will do tricks for cookies.

My mother grew up during the depression and they milked 15 or 20 cows. When the milk didn't sell or it soured, the chickens ate it. They love milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. The one thing I have found that they will not eat? Squash bugs. Unfortunate.

Some of mine eat stink bugs.

I had plastic coops and I was moving them. All these rats came running out. Under one of the coops was a nest of baby rats (pinkies). The chickens grabbed them like they were peanuts. They were tearing baby rats out of each others beaks. It was horrifying.

My chickens really like to eat sliced cheese, but only American or cheddar. It can't be white. I cut it up into slices, so it looks like worms. They also like to eat cooked white rice.

Unfortunately I can't use insecticide on the ants because the lizards eat the ants and the chickens eat the lizards.

Borax works well too. they eat it on food or mix it 3 parts sugar 1 borax , add water and make a paste they eat. They die slowly and the others eat the dead ants till it's all over, ants are gone.
