What is this bulge sticking out of my duck's chest?!?! HELP!

Sorry for coming in late- I just saw this post. I vote for granulation/scar tissue or granuloma/abscess although it is impossible to know without touching and sampling it. Definitely let her sit on her eggs and raise some babies. I can't think of many possibilities where cutting into it would definitely help more than hurt.
After that, you can make a vet appointment to "Check a lump on my sweet [name]". The process is the same whether it's a dog or a duck, why should the species matter? :)
Best of luck to you!

Update: I am beginning to think it is some sort of internal organ/hernia. She is still happy, eating, drinking, swimming & grooming herself. She has no smell at the site or signs of pus or maggots. It does appear that her thin, pink belly skin is starting to pull away or separate from the protrusion. I am not sure if this is a good thing or not. Perhaps it is a HUGE scab that is starting to fall off???? There is no oozing or bleeding, but there appears to be a gaping hole around the top and side of this protrusion. It is very strange. I will try and take more pictures tomorrow. It is very hard for me to see my poor baby in this condition, and it took everything in me to not break down in tears. I have been spraying the site with Vetericyn Plus Poultry Care several times and putting globs of triple antibiotic on it before bed. She is still sitting on those eggs.

I love this! "Could you check a lump on my sweet Penguin?" I think they might once again tell me no---unless we change her name. ;)

If you can't make an appointment with your Penguin just walk her in somewhere and demand a Dr. They'll look at it!! Its the dummies at the front desk that say, "our office doesn't specialize in avian medicine" They're not spaying it, so there's not much extra to know. Its take 2 seconds to research their internal anatomy. If they think its a big problem and need sedation/surgery(remove and suture), I'm sure an avian vet would give them advice on it. They might say, "I'll do what I can, no promises" but if the skin starts to separate, she can't run around with an open sore. I'm wondering if after the eggs hatch, it might start to resolve itself. Granulomas usually hang around from constant irritation, and the skin can never fully heal. (lick Granulomas, or proud flesh) I'm thinking the eggs might be rubbing on it. How long until hatch??

Update:

I tried my best to get a vet to look at her & was super excited when I thought I had an "in" at the local vet we took our dog to for 12 years (they had to put her down last year). My hair stylist worked as a Vet Tech there for 8 years. Yes, she still has friends who work there. She tells me the vet is an *&%!*@# and will absolutely NOT see any out of the ordinary animals. She told me that they used to ask him and he would scream and swear at the employees for even asking. :(

I have continued to monitor Penguin. We change the water in the swimming pools several times a day & have let her sit on her eggs. We spray her with Vetericyn several times a day and put globs of antibiotic ointment on her before bed every night. She is still eating, drinking, swimming, etc normally. I do not think her eggs are going to hatch, so I guess I am going to take them from her tomorrow.

Today the I found the "growth" laying in her pen. She spent most of her day swimming, so it must have fallen off or she pulled it off while grooming herself. I am going to attach photos. The wound area looks good. No signs of infection, no smell, no oozing, no pus. The area just has some remaining dried out whatever that is & the pink belly skin is attached nicely to the area.

I took pictures of the growth & cut it apart to see what was inside. Sorry they are a bit graphic. I wanted to post them in case anyone else experiences this. It was very dry and felt hard like a piece of super dried out over-cooked bbq chicken. I was able to cut through it with a razor blade. It didn't smell bad at all.

I am still hopeful that she will recover! I think I am going to continue with the Vetericyn & antibiotic ointment for a few more weeks.
