Update:
I tried my best to get a vet to look at her & was super excited when I thought I had an "in" at the local vet we took our dog to for 12 years (they had to put her down last year). My hair stylist worked as a Vet Tech there for 8 years. Yes, she still has friends who work there. She tells me the vet is an *&%!*@# and will absolutely NOT see any out of the ordinary animals. She told me that they used to ask him and he would scream and swear at the employees for even asking.
I have continued to monitor Penguin. We change the water in the swimming pools several times a day & have let her sit on her eggs. We spray her with Vetericyn several times a day and put globs of antibiotic ointment on her before bed every night. She is still eating, drinking, swimming, etc normally. I do not think her eggs are going to hatch, so I guess I am going to take them from her tomorrow.
Today the I found the "growth" laying in her pen. She spent most of her day swimming, so it must have fallen off or she pulled it off while grooming herself. I am going to attach photos. The wound area looks good. No signs of infection, no smell, no oozing, no pus. The area just has some remaining dried out whatever that is & the pink belly skin is attached nicely to the area.
I took pictures of the growth & cut it apart to see what was inside. Sorry they are a bit graphic. I wanted to post them in case anyone else experiences this. It was very dry and felt hard like a piece of super dried out over-cooked bbq chicken. I was able to cut through it with a razor blade. It didn't smell bad at all.
I am still hopeful that she will recover! I think I am going to continue with the Vetericyn & antibiotic ointment for a few more weeks.
