What is this color pattern called(cat)?

Thanks guys! I knew that the "tabby" coloration must be broken down more specifically.

Its funny I would assume "classic" tabby would be the typical tabby coloring. But I'm glad I know now.

I'd like to get another with his coloring some day but since I don't shop for cats(they find me) we'll see.

I've seen similar colored cats to him but most have more of the typical tabby coloring on the face, I like that he has alot of black I think he is a beauty.

Zazouse I'm sorry about you dog, it is sad. The tortoise shell coloring is the mostly black coat with flecks of orange through out and I think they like calicos are usually girls.

Classic Tabby is what I was thinking to (and I agree, classic sounds like it would be the more typical). My tabby point would have been a classic tabby, when he was around 5-8 weeks or so he got some color, but it faded out til he's more of a cream color all over, I miss his swirls.

My mom has a cat that looks real similar to yours! His name is Ham.

Yup, gorgeous Tabby (I agree, Classic). If he has an "M" on his forehead between the eyes, that really clinches it. He's a real beauty, you've been a wonderful "mom". Enjoy him while you still have him, and know that there are plenty of tabbies out there when the time comes to fill your arms again.

We have 2 of the Classic Taddys'..... The "M" marking is to cool.....We name one of our "Moses" and the other "Meshack" (sp) anyways Meshack went to the neighbors house and would ring her doorbell so he could come in. She loved the cat so much that she asked if she could have him.....so we let her have him, we see him every so often. Well as for Moses he is still here in all his 15 pounds of glory. The vet was stunned at the size that he is. He used to be an indoor cat but he wanted out so he is now an outdoor cat (no, he still has all his claws).

Sorry to hear about your cat.....but maybe another will wonderup again just in time

Yes, I think that's a Brown Classic Tabby. I have always thought it was funny that that pattern was called classic – it seems that the 'mackerel' tabby is a lot more common.

He's very pretty.

Brown classic tabby. Some of my favortie cats (including right now) have been brown tabbies. Sorry your old guy is fading. It's hard to say goodbye.

Thanks everybody! Hes doing okay right now, he's losing the hair on the interior of his back legs, I'm not sure if its worth taking him back to the vets about. When he showed up as a young adult our guess in age was 2-3 that was 12 years ago. He doesn't seem to be unconfortable.

Somebody mentioned about his size...Yes he is a huge cat! I love big cats he has had more personality than alot of people I know!
