Hi this chick pipped and made a hole but didn't seem to be getting any further so I thought I would 'help' it out, it's wing was stuck tight to it's head (although I have been trying to keep the humidity up) so I don't think it would have made it with interference anyway.
It's the 21st day and we have already hatched seven healthy chicks so far.

Anyway what is this horrible stuff, is it unabsorbed egg yolk or what? It's kind of greenish and slimy looking. The chick was alive when I took the pic and I stuck it back in the incubator, I guess there is not much hope for it though?

Update: Three hours later and it is still alive and reacting to noise, although I haven't seen it's eyes open yet and I did try to make sure that they weren't glued shut with fluff. :)

Yeah I might have tried to help too soon, it is only my second hatch :) it is in the incubator still. So is that green slime the yolk? It didn't smell bad.

He is not doing too bad :) Had a couple of chicks hatched after him that are more lively and coordinated, but he is moving enough now for me to think he probably will survive.
Thanks guys, I am new at this so I don't know what is normal and what is - Panic Stations - !!! :D

It's late here now so I will report again in the morning :)
