I got it from a lady friend of mine. It only blooms once a year and it gets this big star fish like flower and it smells like something dead. Ive just been wondering what kind of plant it is. Thanks.................

Easter Lily I would guess...however the scent is powerful and lovely smelling. OR it could be an Amaryllis.

Wow! that is a niiice plant!

That's called a Stapelia gigantea, commonly referred to as the Carrion Plant.

it smells like rotting meat & the flower is 'flesh' colored to attract flies for pollination.

Thanks. Im going to do a google later on. When she gave it to me, she had like 5 or 6 of them. She gave me one some years ago, but I couldnt keep it alive. Ive had this one for over a year now and I was hoping I would be able to get it to bloom. It had about 6 blooms on it, this is the only one that made it to bloom. It sure does stink. I wouldnt want a bunch of them in my house when they bloom...................

One of the biggest healthiest-looking Stapelias I've ever seen.

Yes, they do stench quite badly, but OTOH they are really cool plants otherwise
