Breast blisters occur in that area, and they can form an abscess. But that lesion looks pretty big and round for a breast abscess. Feather cysts can also abscess and get huge. I probably would clean it with Betadine or similar disinfectant, and perhaps try lancing and squeezing it to see if you get solid pus, or if you get just bleeding. If you get pus, then I would continue to get as much out as possible, and clean it Betadine, and apply some plain Neosporin Ointment. If you cannot do this, then try a vet. If you cannot get anything out of it, I would measure it with a ruler weekly to see if it grows. At the minimum, it needs to be cleaned and disinfected daily.

If it is right over the keel or breast bone, it is likely a breast blister cyst. Here is some reading anout breast blister cysts:

Thanks Eggcessive... that was a link I could actually Read. So many are so tiny and so many pages of “stuff” that I just don’t bother. I’m on my iPhone when I post...couldn’t be my eyesight lol :old

Update: We soaked in warm Epsom salts for approx 20 min. Then examined the enlarged area and tried to see if we could coax the brown scabby part off.

The enlarged area is not hard, nor firm. It is actually more like a fleshy deflated balloon at this point. I could not get the hard scabby part off at all...not even a corner. So, I coated it with generic neosporin ointment, then he was given a blow dry. We returned him to the coop. We will soak him in epsom salts again tomorrow afternoon/evening. Maybe we can get the scabby part off, but I'm not going to force it off. We did not wrap the roost tonight. We will need to scrounge some old towels or similar to do that very well and it was too dark to do so adequately.
