I do not know what this is. . can anyone tell me? My grandmother kept it on a shelf above the kitchen sink to place her wedding ring in. I don't think that was it's intended use.

I remember asking her as a kid what it was and where it came from but I can't for the life of me remember what she said
Something about jelly comes to mind but I don't think that could be right.

It's so tiny though. I don't think it could be a candy dish it would only hold one piece of candy lol. I wonder if it could hold up a candle stick? That would be pretty dangerous I would think
