What is this?

Found this in my chickens brooder.... they are about a month old...... I feel like it came out of one of thier butts. First thought was lash egg but they are far too young. Anyone with any insight please let me know.

Definitely not an egg. Could just be a clump of bedding. Did you smoosh it?

It wasn't very squishy.... very compact

It doesn’t look like bedding to me but it could be something that was got into the bedding unintentionally. How old are your chicks? Does it feel like dried yolk sack? Maybe not totally absorbed by the chick and fell off into the bedding?

What sort of bedding are you using? I'd be shocked if that came out of a butt. Now some bedding mixed with other butt stuff, maybe.
