What is wrong with feeding chickens meat?

I feed mine, the Raccoons I trap, sort of a "revenge" meal...

I feed my chickens meat scraps from the table, and cleaned intestines from rabbits (which they can't seem to get enough of). Plus they catch more mice for me than my cat (and he's a good mouser to). I have free range, Gold Laced Wyandottes.

I think meat is very natural for them. much more so than corn really. When I free range mine in the spring they run right past the corn and layer crumbles and hunt for frogs near the pond. its fairly gruesome but they really enjoy the frogs. I have seen them kill a mouse. Not sure if they would have eaten it, my screaming sorta took the joy out of the meal I think. Lizards don't stand a chance around the barn.

My flocks have been eating meat for the entire 50 years that I have been raising chickens, many a time I have put road kill off the road to feed the chicken and the hogs, if they were feral out in the bush they would eat meat naturally from any dead carcass it may run across. Don't worry about it, the eggs and meat taste better when they get a little meat. The only thing my big brahmas wont' eat is carrots ... go figure. Tell him chickens like us eat about anything, just a fact of nature.
