What is wrong with people? A sad horse story

That is just sickening. Reminds me of a few years ago when someone did that to a dog. And some kid shot a farmer's heifer, just because he wanted to kill one. At least he shot it, and didn't torture it. They caught both of those monsters and they got the maximum sentence; I was happy. How could you do that to any animal????

That's just sick! I hope they find those (insert expletive here)!!!

Of course, the saddest part is that if they DO get caught, they'll get a slap on the wrist & a $100 fine, or something. Sigh.

I have five horses and GOD HELP the person who would THINK of doing that to ANY of mine...

I've got a clean record...and if it was a "crime of passion" I'd be out in um...maybe 5-10 on good behavior?

What is that they say- the number one sign of a serial killer is cruelty to animals?

If someone did that to my horse (and I don't even have any yet!!) I would see to it that they paid for it. How could you drag an innocent animal around?!?!?!

It could be anti social behavior (which is what some serial killers are- not all anti social people are serial killers though.) Killing and torturing small animals is a sign of this sometimes. But if there was more then one person I doubt they were all anti social. If there was more then one person then best guess is lots of alcohol involved. Mob mentality, they were drunk someone said something and it led to that. Either adults or kids. Same type of people who go hunting for the fun of it and will shoot the animal just for the sport and leave it there. It is so sick, and the sad part is they most likely wont get jail time. But the whole community which seems to be sickened by what happened will know who they are. If I was them I wouldn't want to be in that town. Have fun doing your shopping!! If the pasture is right next to an ATV path the neighbors must be used to hearing the ATVs all the time. They probably feel bad enough about not doing anything but its not fair to blame them for not doing anything if its something that they are used to hearing. I hope they are caught, even if they don't get lots of jail time (which they deserve so much more...), I just want to see them have to deal with that community!!

How sad to hear, I don't think that even made the Beaver County Times. My bet is it was more than one
person, I can't see a single ATV being able to drag a horse.

It happened in new wilmington(near westminster college) and hit the sharon herald. I live closer to butler but work with people that know the people involved. I'm glad I have my horses next to the house and well protected by electric, and my five dogs. We had a incident with kids in my pasture two years ago and dh put a alarm system in the barn and at the gates. It was mainly in case kids would get in and perhaps get hurt but I'm glad we got it installed to protect my babies. The community is still very angry and it will not be forgotten.
