What is wrong with people?

If an animal is put down chemically, many of you may not know that it becomes toxic waste and must be disposed of accordingly, by law. Something to take into consideration with large animals.

Many people are not equipped to use a bullet or may not have a friend/neighbour to call upon so they have no choice but to use the vet regardless of their feelings on the subject. Bullet or chemical is personal and there is no right or wrong when putting an animal out of its misery. Quick, calm and accurate rules the day.

I don’t know how close the laws are comparison wise between the U.S. and Canada. But not all states or counties within the states allow citizens to shoot animals. Where I’m at, it is not legal to butcher your own livestock or even shoot a very sick animal whether it is done properly or not. Does not even mater if the person knows how to use a gun properly. When an animal is very, very ill the only option that is available is euthanasia by injection and then the owner must have the animal hauled to the dump.

We are not allowed to bury animals on property. That is the rule in my county. I don’t know if that rule applies to the rest of the state, but as I said it does here. I’ve had 2 horses that were very old and passed away on their own due to old age. No chemicals there, but they still have to be hauled to the dump after the fact. There is no rendering plant in my state to take them to. Smaller pets such as dogs and cats must be taken either to the vet or animal shelter and humanly euthanized. That is it. No ifs, ands, or buts.

wow glad I don't live in Canada, I couldn't afford that every time one of my livestock got sick, or I needed to dress out one of my animals, or I want to skin one of my dead live stock or something. That would get on my nerves fast.

How long has those laws been in place there?

c is 4 cochin

The first part of the quote below is the law in Ontario Canada. We can use a gun if we wish, just have rules for disposal if chemically euthanized.

The next part of the post you have quoted is by c is 4 cochin (I hope I have that right as the quotes piling up is getting confusing) and where ever that person is has the heavy duty thou can't do anything rules. Not to be confused with Canada although the dump is not an option here; we are supposed to bury them. In Canada if a non chemical method is used, you may use the carcass for anything but NOT for SALE as human food. There are people who buy carcasses for pet food.

It is interesting that the rules are so very different depending on location. Shows there is not much real logic to it all and just how arbitrary and ill thought out the rules can be.

oh thanks for clarifying

By telling them they are worthless:lol: Cattle are shot by mobile slaughter, an air driven steel rod at most slaughterhouses. Horses are usually given lethal injections of mass amount and I have seen horses convulse from a pink liquid they used on more than one occasion.
