What is your chickens' favorite treat?

Cooked rice and chicken. After DH and I are done picking the meat off of a whole chicken, I'll throw it in the run. Hours later, there will be nothing left but the spine. I guess they eat the bones, too?

They also go crazy for watermelon, cheese, oatmeal, scrambled egg, grapes, cooked noodles.... all the normal chicken treats!

I haven't found anything mine won't eat yet, but they go absolutely bananas over string cheese - they turn into little feathered savages.

Did you know chickens can tell time?

I can be outside working all day, but when it reaches supper time, suddenly all the chickens race from where they are scattered around the yard and follow me like glue, demanding their evening treat - either grain or scratch. They like the grain (wheat) much better than scratch.

Mine let me know when dinner time is too. First, they tell the quineas to go around the house and start the noise. That in turn, sets off the doves, pigeons etc that know when dinner time is. By then, we inside the house, are eating dinner. So by then, the guineas have made it back into the yard. And voila! here comes me around the corner with "the bucket" lmaoo.

Fish food they go nuts over it. They also went wild over a cherry muffin last week

Can chickens eat shelled walnuts?

Update... yes they can, and they may go nuts over them.

Mine love almost everything we give them except lettuce. Speaking of treats, I posted a question about pears but no one replied

Can we give our chicks pears?

I think our chickens favorite treat is probably bread and corn on the cob.

CarriBrown - I'm glad I'm not the only one who gives her chooks chicken! Any time I make stock the girls get the stock leftovers & go nuts for it.
