What is Your Favorite Christmas Dish? (PARTY!)

She hides so well, we have no idea where she goes. We usually look everywhere for her, we all swear she has a portal she goes to hide in.

I once spent over a hour traipsing through the woods in the dark with my phone flashlight, following random cat prints because i couldn't find Monro anywhere in the house and thought he escaped. I gave up and went home when my battery was about to die. There he was, sitting on the middle of the living room, staring at me when I walked in...

Green bean casserole is awesome! One of my favorites!

We made a gingerbread house last year. I Kept accusing the kids of messing with it and strealing all the candy off of it...... until I caught the cat doing out. He ate most of the candy off, licked the icing, and filed down the sweet tarts by licking them. Needless to say, not one of us swiped anther piece of anything off that gingerbread house after we learned that Monro practically licked the entire thing!

:lau:lau That is hilarious!!!

Here is our cat, Bitty, in a previous year, with a red cedar tree cut from our property. Around here, these prolific cedar trees are considered weeds. They make a lovely Christmas tree, and for free! We have not yet cut one for this year.

She is very pretty!

We don't really have traditional christmas dishes over here.. Everyone just makes whatever is hip/in/the fad that year. Some my mom made were nice; some a disaster.. I think the year of the revival of the oil-fondue..she remembered (and we understand too) why she didn't do that after somewhere in the 70's anymore.. sooo fatty...everything soaked with fat untill the point it was gross.. and the smell! :(

I guess my favourite will be (some sort of Dutch classic with christmas) is the shrimp cocktail. Also became a thing around the 60's? And stayed. Just lettuce, cocktail sauce, and really expensive and most tasty brown shrimp/common shrimp/bay shrimp/sand shrimp. None of those boring tasteless Palaemonidae shrimp (wiki does not give me the common English name).

Oh man, I feel your pain! I've done that very thing with my little Pipsqueak. They can worry us to death, and be hiding 10 ft away, ignoring our calls. :th

Here's the fruit cake I adapted from a recipe on this thread, sorry, I don't remember who submitted it. I substituted dried fruit for candied:

Ever make a gingerbread house?

When my kids were in grade school the rule was only homemade presents for the teachers. My kids used to make gingerbread houses for them. Three kids, two teachers each. It was quite a production! But they loved it and the teachers did too.
