I have covered ever hole with wire mesh. I am not sure how anything would have gotten in.Coon's, most likely, they always go for the brains. If a vindictive 4 year old can get in your barn, so can a coon.

The rat was just a guess, I do think that I've heard people talking about rats killing their chickens, but coons are more likely culprits.I did not know rats could do this. I have a mouse that I see from time to time, but he is small.
