what kind of animal person are you?

Chickens are number one on my list. They get me, I get them. They bring me joy when I am around them, always have.
Cows are number two, just for the sole reason they make money!!
Dogs, cats, whatever are all tied for last...... I grew up in one of those households and all of my extended family was the same. Pets were not allowed in the house and you only had a cat or dog outside if they had some sort of value. Very pragmatic I know. I have a cat upstairs and a dog downstairs in my house. Neither of them are mine and I would be ok without them because Im the guy who has to ensure they have food, water, clean cat litter, etc.....

All mine kill is a 1/2 cup of kibble a day. when we have chicks, they look at them, and you can just see them thinking "too much work".

Anything-with-feathers person. I LOVE my chickens more than any other pet I've had (Koda, my green-cheek conure, is a pretty close second). I used to be a dog person, and then later I was a cat person, but after having 7 of each for so long... It's worn on me. 36 hens have not come close to as frustrating as the dogs and cats can be sometimes.
I'm interested in birds in general, though. I'd love to become an ornithologist some day (but I'm settling for biologist and/or zoologist for now

oh how lovely! Is that a sun conure? we use to have parrots when I was a child. I enjoy them but I don't have time to give them the attention they need.

we had lauries, conures, quakers, lovebirds, parakeets and finches. oh and doves. I miss my doves, such gentle birds.

Sassy is a Sunday Conure-she's a hybrid of a Sun Conure and a Jenday. She's a rescue as she out-lived her owner.

I like my horses, too!

I enjoy chickens but I love goats, dogs, and horses. I have turkeys for the first time this year and I find I like them more than my chickens as well.

hmm I may look into rabbits again then. i think they are adorable but I was always turned off by the ones I had growing up that were skittish or down right temperamental. i want meat rabbits one day but I suspect i need to treat them like the chickens i raise for meat, in other words handle them very little. it's much easier to do what's needed when they are skittish.
