Hey guys i am moving from houston,TX to Tomball,TX and now i can finally have chickens the only worry i have about this is i dont know what kind of predators are in Tomball if there are any people who live in tomball can you please give me some info about the predators and what to do to keep them out of my chicken coop.

I don't know about Tomball, TX, as I've never been there, but it's a pretty fair bet you have raccoons, coyotes, and some kind of hawk, as they are EVERYWHERE. Oh, and don't forget neighborhood dogs. Our chickies have been safe from wild predators, but the neighbor weimeraners killed three of our pullets.

aaannnddd Owls! yep, got to watch out for them hooters. They wake up in the evening, sometimes while there is still daylight. (had one land in our yard a while back during the afternoon. He/she was very pretty to look out with them big ol' saucer eyes. It was hunting early during time when they have nests. We have a pair living diagnally behind us. They boom instead of hoot. Big ol' owls.

Also, skunks and on rare occasions a cougar. Believe it or not it has happened. It is amazing how wild life has adapted to urbanization.
The worst predator is the neighborhood dogs. The only predator we don't have is bears.

Oh and snakes. Can't forget the snakes as they will take eggs and a chick or 2 depending on the size of the snake.

Thank u for telling me the predators that are in tomball but can u tell me how keep them out as well:D
