What kinda music do y'all like?

Here, I'll throw some truly oddball bands into the mix..

I tend to do celtic inspired rock and British Folk Rock from the 70s.. Soooo..

Steeleye Span
Maddy Prior
Silly Wizard
Fairport Convention
Pentangle
Capercaille
Seven Nations
Gaelic Storm (they hover between C.I.R. and Trad, but I'll stick them here)
Heather Dale
Loreena McKennit
Mugar (these guys are almost unknown in the US, they're a French band heavily influenced by N. African rhythms and traditional Gaulic tunes)
Medieval Baebes*
Corvus Corvax*

*these guys are a brand all to themselves, maybe medieval rock? it's a lot of actual medieval lyrics and songs, only with a better bass line.

I listen to anything country, new and old!!!! If I have to listen to other the main thing is that I can understand the words and they are not all cus words!! I do like the older 70's and 80's but country is the best.. My daughter will tell you different but that is why I am the mother and she does as I say..LOL If you cant sing along without having to have the words in front of you then it is not music, it is noise.. Jenn

Steeleye Span and Capercaillie---now there are some blasts from the past!

If you like Mugar, you might also like Kohann. They sing in Breton and French.

I won't listen to rap that has vulgar, fowl language, unclear words or violence overtones, drug promotion, etc.

That is why I LOVE the ITunes Store I buy the rated G versions of rap.

My selection that I listed for rap are the only ones I do listen to and not all the songs.

I do have children here.

But, we are very open family and my 13 year old is not afraid to have long talks about what is right and wrong with us. You have to be open, honest, and truthful anymore.

Are you kidding, they're both still touring!!! Though Steeleye doesn't come to the US anymore.. Capercaille was in upstate NY uhmm.. 4 years ago I guess it was? Steeleye (and Maddy as a solo figure) are still pumping out really good albums at the same rate they did back in the day, and though Maddy's voice is *starting* to show her age some, she's still my favorite vocalist.

I'll have to check out Kohann, Mugar was a friends recommendation and I love them.

Now for the 100 dollar question what movie was the phrase " WE LISTEN TO BOTH TYPES OF MUSIC COUNTRY AND WESTERN "

I like most everything, can listen to some hip hop but after about the 5th FU I turn it off.

grew up listening to J.Cash (long before he remade NINE in NAils songs and got recognized by the Alternative crowd.... 70's
To quote B.Mandrel "I was country when country wasn't cool"
Statler Brothers
Willie
Waylon
Also listened to Jimmy Hendricks, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, etc.....

Now have Satalite so I jump between eras, usuaally Outlaw Country Willie, Waylon, David Allen Coe, all three hanks,
also listen to 60's 70's 80's, clasic and deep cut vinyl
Lately ben hitting Frank Sinatra station.

Ok I have to admit something. I do absolutly adore Andrea Bocelli, the opera singer. My favorite song by him is Con Te Partiro. He sings in italian so I have no clue what he's singing about but it is beautiful.

Click this link then go to Listen to Samples under the album picture a new screen will come up and the first one is Con te Partiro, it should play on it's own.

I listen to a variety of music. My love is classic rock, I cut my teeth on Led Zepplin, The Who, James Gang and I could go on. I also like oldies 60's 70's and 80's and to add a weird twist the girl I work with listen to 94.7 or 95.7 and some of its good.
