What Months Do They Start laying?

i still cant tell if i have males or females?

My guineas will be a year old this spring, and they started laying mid-January, even in this cold area. I was very surprised -- have never had any start that soon here (Mt. Shasta, California, area). I keep trying to find the eggs before the dogs do and also before they have a chance to freeze at night, hoping they'll make it in my incubator.

Thank you. I have a double extra large nest box that dh made that I can just either set on the floor or set up on some cement blocks for them. I have 2 females and 3 males (I think). SO crossing my fingers they will start laying in March. I do have some roosters in that pen too so I've got to get them out since they are mating the hens lol.

Mine started laying last week already! Last year I had 1 female and 4 males and something was wrong with somebody 'cause I hatched ZERO!!! So now I have at least 3 females with the new birds I got last spring. Tomorrow 10 eggs are going into the bator...wish me luck! Terri O

ETA: You will have better luck hatching the guinea eggs under a banty or other broody hen. The guinea moms tend to run too fast to keep track of their babies!

I saw one of my Pearl-Pied hens over in the corner of the one of my chick'n coops digging in the dirt, she made a nest and then sat down in it, no egg though!

HURRY UP!!!

Last Summer I gave 12 Lavender eggs to a broody bantam and she hatched 4 out, plus two that I put w/ her while she was setting on the others so make it 6.

Plus, the broody hen would go in the hutch at night and she taught the guineas "Pretty Well" how to do the same!

I wish mine would hurry up! Last year it wasn't until April for my lone hen and her three man guineas. I'm up to a total of 14 guineas and at least 8 of them are hens. I saw two of my buffs getting friendly over the weekend.
