The trouble is not your heating element at all.. It is in the temp control, thermostat//

does the thermostat wafer you added have a male thread on one side and a female thread on the other?

you have to answer all questions in order for people to help..

The light does go out if I turn it far enough. I am not sure about the male/female thread thing, my DH is the one that put it in, but I am assuming it does since it looks like it is screwed in on both sides, if that makes any sense at all.
