OK guys I got a question :p I have a bottle of intramuscular Tylan that is used for pasturella multocida In Cattle And Pigs. My question is can a small dose be given to rabbits showing signs of pasturella? I'm not having any show symtoms, just taking precautionary measures. Thanks! :)

My understanding is that Pasturella is a trigger to lots of other conditions that cause the disease known as snuffles and it is pretty much untreatable.... And even if you do treat, they always carry the risk of a recurrance.

So a while back I was given Lucy the mutt rescue Rabbit as part of my meat rabbit herd... Or for soup. Or whatever, as long as she had room, food, water and good care while alive. Strangest rescue situation I've ever seen, from house rabbit to meat rabbit.... But the owner preferred this to putting another animal in a shelter and I totally can admire that.

Well today she had her first litter despite her age! Which means she will be sticking around for a while. :3 She had four huge kits that are all super cute! Pictures pending!

Everything I've heard is snuffles is a super bad mammagammer. Good for you Chocolate on the rescue.

So my bunny Caramel started nesting today! I have my fingers crossed, it is supposed to be -20 for the next 24 hours I added the neat box and extra hay for her. Hopefully it goes well:)

Requesting photos PLEASE!! I am living vicariously through you and your kits right now. I am excited about learning new things related to raising rabbits. Just like the info I learned about chickens having personalities and preferences, I continue to be surprised about the bunnies in that way as well. They are plumping up and displaying contentment with their new environment. Am waiting a while to mate them safely. By the time they are ready (6-8 months) it will be blazing hot here. Seems like a long wait, but I'd rather give the kits the best chance of survival the first time around. I've read that the first kindling is not always successful. I would hate for it to go south because of something I could have avoided just by being a little patient.
