I'm not worried if they are not mini rex's. I am very curious, now, though. They are still adorable and mom and dad weren't at all big - so these guys should be just fine. Of course, my husband needs to finish building their actual hutch so they aren't in a coop that I had sitting empty - though, they sure seem to love the coop.

Here is a video of the little guys. I dunno if it will help or not - but, it was much easier than snapping photos and constantly getting blurs

They are cute but their fur def looks longer than that of a rex/mini rex, now I'm curious as to what they are.

**laughs** Curious minds want to know.

The young gal who had gotten the parents had thought she had two boys....behold her surprise when she was proven wrong. **laughs** I got the lot of them for next to nothing because they needed to get rid of them. Since I don't show and wasn't counting on the fur for anything...I'm not worried about not having pure breds. I am so very curious what they are, though. They are inquisitive, friendly, soft as silk and just cute as a button. I'd like more of them **laughs** Actually, I wouldn't mind getting two does and another buck and breeding for meat. (Trying to get my husband to not get too attached is going to be the trick) With it just being me and my husband (and our low appetites) smaller rabbits are a wonderful size for us. It's one reason we prefer dual purpose birds as well. Anything more is just too big.

By my reckoning, she wasn't wrong, she was only half right.

This is a Mini Rex. See how plushy the fur looks?

Your bunnies do look similar in type, so there may be some Mini Rex in there, but my guess is that they are mixed breeds. But whether you are thinking about breeding or not, I'd advise you to separate them (at least by gender) by the time they are 12 weeks old, or you may wind up with some surprises of your own!

Oh, definitely. I don't intend to keep them together past the 12 week mark. I've just not decided if I'm getting them all buddies from a different family or if they are going to be on their own...If I'm not going to actually breed them, I may take them up to the vet and have them neutered/spayed just to keep things simpler. But - really - I'd kinda like having them around as entertainment and food. My husband grouses at me every time I mention eating one of them at the 12 week mark...but, he knows that all my animals are destined for Camp Kenmore (to quote Yinepu) at some point ... well, except the cats and dogs and that's cuz Americans get kinda weird about that sort of thing

But, seriously - since these guys aren't purebred (thank you all for pointing that out) I'm not quite sure what to go with to breed with them. I wouldn't want to have larger rabbits - we just don't eat that much, it's why we go with smaller birds in our flock, too, btw. But, I don't want to be buying show quality stuff, either, since I'm not showing.

So - suggestions? Maybe getting some 'real' mini rexes to mix with them? Maybe mini satins? Where would you suggest going to purchase the smaller rabbits? I see the big ones for sale everywhere; but, I'm not overly conversant with the rabbit world, yet

If you're looking for small meat rabbits, go see if you can visit with some florida whites. They max out at about 6 pounds. Shame you're not closer, I have them coming out of my ears right now.

**laughs** Yeah - Montana's a bit of a drive. Ironically, I have some hatching eggs coming to me from Montana in a few months and a friend is going to be up that way for a business meeting. Until this last week, I'd not given MT much thought...and, now it's popping up all over the place. **grins**

I don't mind a drive; but, south Texas to Montana's a wee bit of a drive, even for me **grins**

I'll certainly look around and see if I can find some FL Whites. Thanks for the suggestion!

I bred my two holland lops yesterday. Put the doe in twice. Was going to do it one more time today butninwas gone most of the day. Should I try again tomorrow or should I wait a week and see if she refuses him?? It's been so long since I've bred rabbits. Not sure if I should just wait it out and see what happens next month.

Do NOT rebreed her! your doe can develop 2 litters a week apart and end up killing all the babies and herself! The common rule is do it that day of and if you are risky the day after but no longer. A doe will still acept a male even if she is prego.
