I dont know a lot about rabbits yet but it looks like a New Zealand white. I'm sure people with experience correct me if I'm wrong.

If eyes are pink New Zealand if they are dark it could be a Flemish he is very pretty and a nice size too. But he could be any thing .

What do I need to do to this hutch to winterize it? Its home for 5 lion heads.

Its 6x3 has lg wooden nest areas in the back. The front section has wire bottom. There's a metal heat lamp in one on the boxes. I'm in North Georgia. We have fluctuating winter temps from 40* to teens. Last winters Polar Vortex brought wind chill of -20.

I also have Netherland Dwarfs inside a block building. It isn't heated what do they need? This will be my first winter with rabbits.

In the winter I use deep litter method. In the summer I do only where they potty in the back of the hutch, but in the winter I put thick hay all over the bottom of the hutch and add to it over the winter. I'll end up with 3-4" of packed hay by the end. Also, the rain flaps I use in the summer I lower down and bungee cord them to the sides to keep out the wind. The side with the door is not covered. If you always put fresh hay there is no odor. My buns did fine. The biggest problem was keeping the water from freezing. I also have two houses in the hutch that I kept full of fresh hay and they would curl up in that.

These flaps are up for the summer and down for the winter. In the winter I move the flaps forward before I secure them down to cover the sides completely.

In general I do nothing special for rabbits in the winter. They just love the cold. :)
And apparently mine like the heat... crazy things. This is the third litter I've had this year when it's been over 95 outside. All have done very well. I wouldn't normally kindle this time of year but... temporary overnight housing while rebuilding some new cages enabled one accidently breeding the end of July, so I bred another so I'd have two litters simultaneously if bucks were fertile. Guess they were. Now have another litter of 11 NZR and a litter OF AC (not sure the count yet). Fertile little buggers. Will post pics of new cage setup.
