What shape of roosts do you use in your chicken coop?

I like a natural branch but am not inclined to vote "round" because that conveys more of a closet-rod image to my mind rather than the irregular shape of a tree branch.

My guess would be they like the rafters because of how high they are. They told me they didn’t like 2x4 on edge

Tilted should never be used.
2x4 wide side up works here just fine.
But they also roost on the edge of boards(2x2) and right on the board itself.

@aart how’s your box fan working or holding up? My mushroom fan on the roof the bearings are bad in 2 years. I would blow it out every once in a while also. Not sure that it would impact the bearing tho

Set at an angle so corner of board is up, hard on their feet.
