For hatching quail eggs, I did an experiment in college and if you just lay them on their side in a turner, but so they don't roll, you'll get the same hatchability within 1-2% of if the big end were up. Don't worry about hatchability if you don't have them straight up and down.
I really wanted to find 1 doz cartons but I just missed the free shipping from eggcartons.com. I never feel they are charging a fair price when you consider the cost of shipping, so I have to wait until they have free shipping to get anything from them. Wish all of the plastic ones were from recycled material, my customers really appreciate that.
We hope to charge $2.50 or $3 at our farmer's market come May.
