What should I do about this buyer? Update Pg 6

Hold your ground!!!! Don't let someone badger you into doing something you know is wrong. Everybody in the world knows that when you pay for something at the agreed upon price and take the merchandise it's a DONE DEAL. I've been in sales for 25+ years. In my experience it's the significant other or close relative that influenced her unreasonable request. That's not your problem. You can be very nice and businesslike about the whole thing, but whether she's happy or not isn't in your power, nor is it your responsibility. That ship has already left the dock. HA! Do what you decide is right and let her sail away.

Sounds like she got a good deal, I wish i had a farm and lived closer;) here mutt 2 year olds go for $1o each!

First, she should have said that when you told her the prices in the beginning, or when she got there. Not after she has the birds in her possession. No refund, she knew what she was getting and had no problem paying it until she got home. Don't offer to take the birds back for a refund, who knows what kind of things/diseases they could have came in contact with.

Second, never lend out one of your carriers to a stranger. You most likely wont be seeing that again.

Just the stress on the birds during all that is not that good. I'm confused did they not pay you when they took the birds? they should have paid for what they took at the time. If they left birds then they pay again for what they get. Nothing leaves the property without being paid for. For the most part people are good but you always have that 1 or 2. When I sell livestock here at back to basics farm, it's sold as stress free as possible.

I've read over this entire post... I smell a scam... 64 birds @ an average cost of $4.50... (and some show quaility birds in there to boot) The gal that purchased your birds isn't that stupid. I'll bet you're a very sweet lady, and scammers can smell that from 10 miles away! Don't let her take advantage of your generosity and willingness to make her happy...

I hope that you insisted that she pay CASH since she was a stranger.
I have never sold a chicken or hatching eggs just because of situations like this. I've given a lot of both away; that way I don't have to listen to any complaints if something goes wrong. This is just a hobby that's filled with losses from every angle, and I doubt that any of us have ANY hope of ever making a "profit" from it. Stick to your original agreement with the buyer.

Blackbelt, the birds have already been paid for; the purchaser wants a refund. I think that a deposit for the carrier would have been in order; that way if it never returns, you have the cash to replace it. Although, since they came to you, why did they not bring enough carriers themselves? Not sure how many birds they still have to pick up, but is it enough that their cost covered the carrier? As pthers have said, the deal is already made; there are probably times or reasons why one would be willing to back out or undo a deal, but this does not seem to be one of those.

Worst case scenario for the seller, she re-sells the birds for a bit more than she purchased them for; shouldn't be too difficult.

I would stay firm on my price.I have in past thrown in a couple extra chick's if buyers bought a larger number of chick's.Full grown birds aren't the same for sure. The food cost alone is insane.I sold a hen and roo yesterday for $5 each. And gave her a bantam rooThe only reason I sold them so cheap this girl barely has any money and has bought birds in the past.I just needed to thin out some roo's.Some people will sure try to get something for nothing.I would tell her sorry no discount's on full grown bird's.
