Ours do a chicken stampede for crickets. It's a lot of fun throwing in a couple of them and listening to the sound of 11 sets of chicken feet running from one side of the run area to one poor cricket that has only on the ground for 0.5 seconds and then--gone!
Waxworms are good too. A half dozen of these being fed out of the palm of your hand makes you a friend for life--our follow us everywhere now--including out the door when we change their water.
I have a lot of squash - some go too big, some just didn't sell and I had the brilliant (yes, I pat myself on the back!) idea of cutting them all into rounds and putting them in our spare fridge. Then, when it's extra hot (as it is every day not) I take cold squash to them. They love it. Today, they also got some cold, chopped boiled eggs and shells. And, they get a small handful of scratch feed, liberally laced with BOSS, every morning and as a bedtime snack. Are they spoiled, or what?
