What Special Treat or Yummy Did Your Flock Get Today?

BOSS, strawberries and cherries. They are crazy about berries. When I gave them blueberries one day, they'd shove each other out of the way, grab one and run away with it as fast as they could.

I'd never seen anything like it before!

They love fennel, chives and squash leaves, too. They're so-so on basil and tarragon, and don't seem to like parsley at all.

Today mine got the leftovers from Sunday dinner. Mashed Potatoes, peas and carrots. They LOVE them.
I also gave them a head of red cabbage. They devoured it!

BACON!!! The silkies didn't really get any because their fluffy heads makes it hard for them to see the tiny pieces I threw by them

Today, mine had some leichi berries, oatmeal and cheerioes earlier in the day. Then we went out and got some chinese, so when I came home they got my leftover veggie fried rice, some white rice and some chunks of sweet and sour chicken. Later that night I threw them some fish scraps after we grilled.

I also bribe the nieghborhood kids into bringing me lizards and bugs that they catch. Their reward is they get to feed them to my chickens

Some of the kids catch REALLY BIG lizards, so we just break off the tails and let the birds have those. I only feed them the small lizards.

I gave a long list some pages ago in this thread and it was pretty much very healthy things but I thought I'd add a new treat last night because it was so stinkin' hot and my feather-kids were so miserable after umpteen days in a row of a steam bath around here (tthis morning the heat index was 90 frikkin' degrees at 5:30 A.M.).

I had some Ben & Jerry's cherry garcia frozen yogurt and gave them each a small amount - just the cherries and the yogurt, not the bits of chocolate. Normally I wouldn't do this because there's probably a million reasons one shouldn't (e.g. sugar content) but Ellie, the hen who gets the most overheated, went crazy for it. Her mate, BJ, could see her joy and gave her his (how I love that boy). She is a-okay this morning

We're back to regulation treats today like nice icy fruit and such to get them through (hopefully) this insanely hot day.

I made up a pan of oatmeal with a big dolb of plain oatmeal. Their favorite treat is when my grand daughter and I pick the soldier fly larve out of the compost. What is BOSS?

Last night they had the leftover grains from beer making, some corn muffins, leftover chicken,

and weeds from the garden.
